WORD of the DAY

The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” (Mark 6: 30-32)

How shall I live this Word?

Although brief, this passage reveals the warm lively humanity of Jesus and His familiarity and affection for His apostles. The initiative and invitation to find a quiet green place, in contact with creation, highlights the relationship of Jesus with His disciples. This fact also shows loving, tender intuition, two traits of real and deep humanity.

Lord, I ask You to help my heart leave behind egotistical pressures and open itself to human relationships that are really sincere, warm with friendship and tenderness.

The voice of Soren Kierkegaard, Philosopher

Like the arrow of a trained archer that when launched from the bow does not rest until it arrives at the target, so too humans created by God and having God as their objective, cannot find rest except in Him.
