     Week Twelve of Ordinary Time

 WORD of the DAY

When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.  And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”  He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean.” His leprosy was cleansed immediately. (Matthew 8:1-4)

How shall I live this Word?

Jesus comes down from the mountain and heals the sick, all those who come to Him with simple faith.  So too does the leper.  He is certain of the Messiah’s power and expects a miracle from him.  The Teacher responds immediately.  He stretches out His hand and touches him, saying, “I will do it.  Be made clean”.  Always present in the Lord Jesus is the will of salvation, of life, of purification.  Even for us, the miracle of healing our impurities, our weaknesses, our fears can happen.  It is enough to believe in His  mercy, in His love.  It is enough to let ourselves be touched from within, certain that the leprosy that oppresses us will be transformed into freedom and joy.

Today I will often repeat, My strength and my song is the Lord!

 The Voice of Madeleine Delbrel

We find that prayer is an action and action is a prayer.  It seems to us that truly loving activity is full of light.
