Fifth Tuesday of Easter

Fifth Tuesday of Easter, May 1, 2018

WORD of the DAY

They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith.  (Acts 14: 22)

How shall I live this Word?

What the Acts of the Apostles narrate makes us aware that our Christian faith is a torch continually revived by believers.  Yes, it is a living fire, not a group of truths to be continually evaluated by reason, but rather, a truth – light- that is life.  even fire, if it is not nourished, goes out, whether it is the one that is lit to clear the hedges and the bushes, or that one that is lit for cooking, or any other need.

Thus, it is with faith!  Today, too many people after being Confirmed, exempt themselves from any other effort of continuity in receiving the sacraments.  Thus, little by little, they become indifferent and unbelieving.  To remain solid in the faith is possible, what’s more, it is vital!

Lord, help me to remain solid in the faith by approaching the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist often.  Then joy will never be absent from my heart.

The voice of St. Francis de Sales, Holy Church Doctor

The faith is a great friend of our spirit, and rightly so, can it speak to the human sciences.
