Week Two of Ordinary Time

WORD of the DAY

 Be exalted over the heavens, God;

may your glory appear above all the earth.

For your mercy towers to the heavens;

your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

 (Psalm 57: 6b, 11)

How shall I live this Word?

Like the Psalmist, today we too have the strong desire that the glory of God will not be obscured, but will shine on the whole earth.  Why do we glorify the Lord?  The Psalmist grasps it especially in the Goodness of God.

Meeting people who are truly full of goodness, does great good to our life.  It is like casting a light on our path.  This comforts us, but our Faith goes beyond this – as the psalmist assures us – the goodness of God is without any limits.  The image is that of towering to the Heavens.  It is not by chance that the term goodness is associated by the psalmist with something that is even more comforting, FAITHFULNESS.

Lord, how these words enter into my heart with their divine inspiration that efficaciously expresses Your goodness!  But I must say, that it is reinforced even more by connecting Your unlimited goodness with Your fidelity.  Thank You!  Take me into Your heart, so that I may learn to love with patient goodness and immovable fidelity.

Faith is the great friend of our spirit and can, rightly so, speak to human science.
