FRIENDS and SERVANTS of the WORD

26th Sunday of Ordinary Time
WORD of the DAY
What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ He said in reply, ‘I will not,’ but afterwards he changed his mind and went. (Mt. 21: 28-29)
We can call this passage “the game of yes and no”. It is a game that can also be reversed when the yes becomes No. And, in the last part of the game, the no becomes yes. In the first, it is the case of the yes of the people.
It could be me, you or the others. In life, insufficient is the easy yes of enthusiasm with which I involve myself in doing good and then as soon as it becomes a bit hard to think, speak, and act according to what God wants, I throw my effort into the sea. What counts is perseverance. Yes, to hold fast with the help of God.
If then, I am one of those who have slid into evil, the Word of God invites me not to be depressed, closed, sad, and cut off my relationship with God. Absolutely no.
I ask You, Lord, to be like those who at a certain point said no but then, they resolutely asked forgiveness from You, who freed them from the prison of sin, because the key of freedom is always Your infinite Love that is called MERCY.
The Voice of Hermann Hesse, German Writer and Philosopher
The best weapons against the world’s infamy are: strength of soul, tenacity, and patience. Strength of soul makes us robust, tenacity makes us firm, and patience brings peace.
