Tenth Saturday of Ordinary Time

June 17, 2017

Saturday of Week X in Ordinary Time

WORD of the DAY

So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.  (2 Corinthians: 5: 17)

How shall I live this Word

These are beautiful words of Love that God entrusts to us as we enter into the new season of summer and for many, a time of vacation and a slower pace.  It makes us more aware of the beauty so infinitely great of our belonging to Jesus that, as St. Paul says, ‘we are in Christ’!

We are IN Christ even more deeply than we can be in the air when flying, or in the sea when swimming, or in the country, or in a conversation with a friend, or in silent adoration.  Paul goes further…WHOEVER IS IN CHRIST IS A NEW CREATURE!   And we are new each day with the very newness of Jesus who is God, the Trinity!  Herein is all our joy and all our hope!

O Jesus, You told us You are the LIFE, the life that never ends; grant that my existence may be rooted in You and never give in to what is sinful and destructive.  At every stage of my life, give me a NEW heart each morning so that each day I may give myself over to  Your Word that saves, that LOVES!  Help me to love everyone, doing good with all the sympathy and affection, with understanding love, all those I meet along my day.

The Voice of Pope Francis on January 25, 2017

If we are in Christ, we are new creatures.  This is the revolution Paul lived, but it is always the Christian revolution.  We do not live for ourselves, for our interests, in our image, but in the image of Christ, for Him and like Him, with His heart and His love.  It is an invitation to leave behind our isolation, overcome the temptation to be self-referencing, which impedes us to grasp what the Holy Spirit works outside our spaces.
