Ninth Friday in Ordinary Time

Friday of Week IX in Ordinary Time

WORD of the DAY

As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,  “How do the scribes claim that the Messiah is the son of David?  David himself, inspired by the holy Spirit, said:

‘The Lord said to my lord,  “Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet.”

David himself calls him ‘lord’; so how is he his son?” [The] great crowd heard this with delight.        (Mark 12: 35-37)

How shall I live this Word

With His words and example, Jesus, the Teacher, guides His own toward the knowledge of the Son of God.  He presents Himself little by little, revealing His identity and His mission.  Knowing Jesus is a gift of the Holy Spirit who illumines our mind and our heart; presents Him as Lord, the One who will bring victory over enemies.

The crowd willingly listens and we too, listen to the Word, the Voice of Jesus that speaks to the ears of our heart, and helps us to discover the greatness of His personal love for each one of us and thus we desire even more to listen to Him always.  Thus, His Word becomes the Word that moves us to do the good and to transmit His message to our sisters and brothers.

Lord Jesus, Son of David, Son of God, my Savior, help me to recognize You and to proclaim Your love in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Voice of Pope Francis – March 4, 2016

In fact, those who believe, see and go ahead with hope because they know the Lord is present to sustain and guide us.  We follow Him as faithful disciples  to make all those we meet along our way participate as well.
