Ninth Tuesday in Ordinary Time

June 7, 2017

Wednesday of Week IX in Ordinary Time

WORD of the DAY

Jesus said to them, “Are you not misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God?   (Mark 12: 24)

How shall I live this Word

The Sadducees question Jesus about the Resurrection, which is central to our faith.  Certainly it is a great, powerful theme that only faith can witness to.  Jesus responds that perhaps the reason they do not understand is because they know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.

We too, in many realities of suffering and death, cannot understand.  We look for answers without counting on God’s love revealed in Scripture, revealed in His Son become human for us.  Truly, in God it is possible to find the answer.  His power  is the power of Love that frees us from suffering and brings us to real Resurrection.  Let us place ourselves at the school of the Word and let ourselves be penetrated in the depths of our heart and we will find the answer and the meaning of our life and our history.

Lord, grant that I may know Your ways, teach me Your paths.  Guide me in Your fidelity and teach me, because You are the God of my salvation.  Psalm 24

The Voice of Theology of Pope Francis – Homily of February 2, 2017

Thus, we too must live and learn from these human expectations and live waiting to see the Lord, to meet the Lord.  This is not easy, but we learn to live waiting.  Hope means and implies a poor heart.  Only a poor person knows how to wait.  Those who are already full of themselves, do not know how to place their trust in anyone else, but in themselves.
