SECOND THURSDAY OF EASTERTIDE

WORD of the DAY

The Father loves the Son and has given everything over to him.  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him.                (John  3: 35-36)

How shall I live this Word?

Jesus came to give witness to the Father because He and God are one.  Jesus wants to dismantle the approximate idea of God that humans had formed, and also the sometimes lame ideas that Israel had made.  God is not one who rewards us if we scrupulously observe all His precepts, as the Pharisees thought, but the One who desires to save us and works so that this salvation may be accomplished.

Jesus manifests the true face of God.  We can ask ourselves: Is the God I believe in, the God of Jesus?  Our whole life becomes a conversion from the idea of God  we carry in our heart to the splendid and adult one Jesus gives us.

Lord Jesus, You who have revealed the love of God the Father to us, help me to experience being His beloved child; His child, always His child.

The Voice of Pope St. John XXIII

Nourish your faith; faith in God, just and merciful, without whom our life would be like a day without the sun, a universe without light.  By His divine will He made the Church the good and certain guide of humanity toward heaven.
