WORD of the DAY
Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. (Mark 1: 20: 39 )
We have but to look at Jesus to know how we are to be, how we are to act, what we are to say. Truly, He is our Paradigm par excellence in every way and at every level. In today’s Gospel, we see Jesus spending the whole day in healing and purifying persons possessed. How tired He must have been at days end, how in need of a good sleep. Yet, He rises early, before dawn, to pray, to commune with His Father, to gain strength and light for the day ahead. He does not isolate Himself, but prepares Himself to go back to the crowds, to preach and heal and console, and cure. He is the true contemplative in action as we all should be if we are to bring hope and light to this traumatized world of ours. Today, more than ever, we need the support of our relationship with God based on love, on faith, on trust.
Let us take to heart the example Jesus gives us by following it. Then yes, we will be peaceful people, building a better future together, one based on love, forgiveness, solidarity, respect…all that our hearts yearn for.
Jesus, help us to live in You, in the Father, in the Spirit who are constantly loving us, who are always with us. Strengthen our faith!
The Voice of Servant of God Archbishop Luis Maria Martinez
Were we to fathom the greatness of Jesus’ love for us, we would be overwhelmed. With what delicacy, tenderness, ardor, patience, and divine courtesy He has dealt with us! Oh Jesus, who loves like You?
