WORD of the DAY
For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. (Matthew 10: 20)
Before sending His apostles to proclaim the Kingdom of God, Jesus gave them some practical instructions recommending what is substantially the expression of true fraternal charity. However, it always happens that the behavior which is the fruit of a generous self-giving encounters difficulties, and even being called into judgment. Jesus forestalls the fear by which His followers could be paralyzed or confused in their speaking. What He tells them is very comforting and encouraging. There is no need to be cowardly and fearful, nor to presume on self when we feel absolutely able to handle the situation because whatever good, true, or beautiful things we are able to express come from God.
Those who speak in judgment or in lowlier tasks, what counts is believing to be inhabited by You, Lord.
Keep me in close interior connection with Your ‘being’ and then my speaking will be upright, true, and good.
The Voice of Pope Francis
Christian life cannot be understood without the presence of the Holy Spirit: it would not be Christian. It would be the religious, pagan, pious life of those who believe in God, but without the vitality that Jesus wants for His disciples.
