From the Word of the Day
Then I saw in heaven another sign, great and awe-inspiring: seven angels with the seven last plagues, for through them God’s fury is accomplished. (Revelation 15: 1)
After the woman clothed with the sun and the Son of Many who comes on a white cloud, there is a third sign; seven angels with seven plagues. These seven angels will receive the seven cups with which God’s fury is accomplished. The seven cups will be overturned on the earth and what they contain represents an exemplary lesson for humanity so that in a decisive way they will be educated to reject evil and choose good. At the same time, the cups allow the wrath of God to be accomplished! It is a judgment that opens on a new image of God, to a new relationship with Him, more conscious and more adult, of His endless mercy.
Today’s Canticle contains a reading expressing and celebrating the joy of being able to recognize the Omnipotent God, whose works are great and marvelous. It is another version of the Magnificat of Mary that continues to educate us to the new image of God revealed by Christ.
Lord, do not allow our actions to be dictated by fear or anger, but only by Your love; the love that is born from knowing You, the one true God, Lord of our life.
The voice of Adrienne von Speyr, Mystic
In the moment of judgement, the veil will be pushed aside. All that was hidden will be revealed now in perfect transparency, in an ultimate and definitive visibility.
