From the Word of the Day
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. (Luke 11: 23)
Jesus strongly affirms that whoever is not with Him is against Him. In order to understand these words of Jesus, we need to recall the accusation made against Him when He cast out demons. His usual critics said He was casting them out with the power of the devil. Jesus calmly answers fully aware that He casts them out by divine omnipotence. The full realization of our personhood depends on living in Jesus in the way He always remained oriented to His Father when He was on this earth.
This are true Christians, whether they are research scientists working with the latest model of electronic devices or are before a kitchen stove, that they are always in Jesus’ company. It is precisely being in Christ and with Christ before the Father in the infinitely unitive love of the Holy Spirit.
On the contrary, those who forget this central reality of Christian spirituality of being indwelled by the Lord, scatter.
Lord, grant that with Your grace I may live in You, in Your love. I know with faith’s certainty that the result will be eternal life already begun here and now.
The voice of Archbishop Bruno Forte
To believe is to entrust self to Someone, assent to the call of God who invites us to place our life in the hands of Another infinitely powerful in wanting only the good.
