From the Word of the Day
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. (John 17: 4)
Jesus’ whole prayer to the Father is a chest of precious pearls because it is located at the imminence of the Passion and Death of the Lord. This brief affirmation, however, touches us more directly because we needed precisely this radiant teaching and witness.
The reason is simple. It comes down upon our life or better still, the life that we are called to live. A Church Father said, “The glory of God is humans on this earth”. Truly, our dignity as people created for love by the Omnipotent God is very great. However, we must grasp its origin and meaning. Glorification is the full light that God gives us when we live our days, ‘finishing the work He entrusted to us’.
Every life, every person is not here by chance. Everyone has a task and every task is important, even it were only that of cleaning a car used by others.
The Voice of Saint Irenaeus, Church Father
The glory of God is man fully alive.
