From the Word of the Day
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”
“No,” they answered.
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. (John 21: 1-14)
After a night of fishing in vain, the disciples are returning to shore. It is already dawn. They see a human figure from afar and hear a voice: “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” It is Jesus, but they did not recognize Him. They are deluded and tired because of their empty nets. However, they obey that voice that seems to command them. They did something that they probably had never done before in their life. Five experienced fishermen obey a stranger who orders them to do something that is against their experience. They obey and cast the net. There is an unexpected result. The net fills with fish! How is this possible? How can this surprise be explained except by some prediction? Love discovers how. The beloved disciple says: “It is the Lord”. This intuition clears up everything.
Today I will pray: Lord, let me know You intimately and be guided by You toward the fullness of life.
The Voice of Psalm 125
The Lord has done great things for us. He has filled us with joy.
