Fourth Monday of Lent

From the Word of the Day

Go; your son lives.  (John 4: 50)

How should we live this Wordcenturians-servant

The pagan centurion begs Jesus to heal his sick son.  With the great faith and love of a father for his sick son, he asks Jesus to intervene with His goodness and His divine power so that his son will be cured.

Jesus works the miracle, bringing out the great faith of the centurion.  Faith goes beyond race and religion.  The pagan centurion gives the example of a lively, sincere, and authentic faith.  With faith, we too meet God; we receive Him into our life; we practice His words; we discover Him as a Father of immense goodness and mercy.

If Jesus sees our faith and trust in Him and in His Word, he will work miracles in our life as well.  Life itself is already a miracle!  Just as Jesus in the Gospel rewarded the faith of the centurion, he repays the faith of every person in the same way.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will ask Jesus to strengthen my faith more and more each day.

Jesus, I believe!  Increase my faith!

 The Voice of Pope Francis

The man or woman who has faith entrusts self to God; they trust!  Paul, during a time of darkness in his life, said: “I well know to whom I have entrusted myself”.  To God…to the Lord Jesus…Trust and this leads us to hope.
