Thursday after Epiphany

From the Word of the Day

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and news of him spread throughout the whole region.

(Luke 4: 14-22)

How should we live this Wordpppas0244

Galilee was the most ethnically mixed region of Israel.  The percentage of aliens is very high and just as high will be the rapid spread of the Good News.  Jesus becomes known throughout the region in a brief time.  At first, the Good News goes from mouth to mouth and is connected to the healings of many sick people from all nationalities that come to Jesus by the hundreds.  They hear the Good News first hand and are cured of their illnesses, both physical and spiritual.

Even in His own hometown of Nazareth, His townsfolk were at first highly impressed by Him and amazed at the ‘gracious words that came from His mouth”.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will reflect on the persecutions of Christians occurring in the lands that first heard and saw Jesus and accepted Him as the Savior.   Now they are being viciously persecuted after having kept the faith alive for centuries.  The forces of evil have been unleashed.  I will pray and sacrifice so that these lands may soon return to peace and the people may serenely practice their faith.

Lord, bring peace to the world so desperately in need of Your Good News!

 The Voice of the Liturgy

Today, in Christ, Light of the world, You have revealed to the peoples the mystery of salvation and in Him, appearing in our mortal flesh, You have renewed us with the glory of divine immortality.
