34th Friday in Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

(Luke: 21: 33)

How should we live this Wordpaesaggio autunnale

Today’s passage should help us to have hope and to make hope live in those around us.  Everything passes; what remains is love, the love we have received and given.  Time passes, history passes, glory passes, and infamy passes.  In passing, everything changes and is transformed.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will reflect on the transience of all things as even history demonstrates.  Only one thing is constant; Jesus’ coming and the revelation He brings.

Lord, Your words will never pass away and they will always continue to lead us on roads we do not know but onto which You are leading us.  Help us to overcome the temptation to stop, to resist change.  Let the changes You permit in our life be ones of conversion, decisively oriented to You.

 The Voice of Karla Manternach

There is no surer sign that God is with us than when we are in pain.  During the dark times of our lives, the very times when we might question whether God cares for us, God is at hand.  God will not forget us.  Loving God, help me to know that you are always near.
