SOLEMNITY of ALL SAINTS

From the Word of the Day

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.  Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.  Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.  Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.  Blessed are the merciful, for they will obtain mercy.  Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.  Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. ”

(Mt. 5: 1-10)

How should we live this Wordweg-sbiagio

The entrance door to the Kingdom of Heaven is open to the poor, the little ones, the humble, the oppressed, and the conquered.  On the road of life, they are destined to a preferential path.  Therefore, the Beatitudes are like another Easter.  This paradoxical discourse, so deeply antitypical of the weak thought of contemporary society, constitutes the proclamation of newness, of liberation.

However, it deals with a fraternal liberation that calls on everyone.  In fact, beside us on our daily journey there is a long procession of those who are close to desperation; who have been uprooted from their land; whose fundamental human rights are not respected; who are violated in the most intimate and sacred part of their life.  To seek Christ means to unite ourselves to them; to take up their defense, and nourish their hope.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will resolve to do all that is possible to alleviate the sufferings of others with the help of Jesus.

Dear Jesus, help me to never pass by with indifference anyone who is suffering.

 The Voice of G. Bernanos

We are created in the image and likeness of God because we are capable of loving.  The saints are geniuses of love.
