Ninth Tuesday of Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“Some Pharisees and Herodians were sent to Jesus to ensnare him in his speech.  They came and said to him, ‘Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion. You do not regard a person’s status but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth’.”            (Mark 12: 14)

How should we live this Wordrisen Jesus 1

The context of this passage is famous and important because, with His response to the question of giving tribute to Caesar, Jesus declares that the Kingdom of God is not of this world, however it is actualized in it.  The above passage is also very interesting because it points out aspects of great importance about the person of Jesus Christ.

What is said of Him is above all, the transparency of His thoughts and words that coincide with His being and His acting.  He is of an absolute truthfulness that is not cut short by what others may say or judge in His regard.  Jesus is the true Teacher because His teaching is the essential truth that coincides with the ‘just way of God’.

We can be certain that Jesus is the ‘free man’ par excellence.  It is, therefore, the Word of God enfleshed who indicates to us the style of life that is free of all obstacles and fears about the judgment of others that can sometimes paralyze our duty to do good, and obscure relationships with diffidence, hypocrisy, pusillanimity and insincere actions.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will ask Jesus to make me interiorly free to follow His Word no matter what others may say or think.

Lord Jesus, strengthen my admiration for You and let the true and transparent aspect of Your being help me to model my life on Yours so that I may help truth and life flow in the arteries of this world.

 The Voice of Pope Francis

Going out of oneself is also going out of the garden fence of one’s convictions considered immobile if they risk becoming an obstacle, if they close the horizon that is of God.
