Solemnity of the Most Blessed Trinity

From the Word of the Daytrinityicon[1]

“Jesus approached and said to them, ‘All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”            (Matthew 28: 18-20)

How should we live this Word

After some time in Galilee, the Eleven disciples reach Jesus on the mount He indicated.  Now, at the apex of Lord’s permanence on earth, the disciples receive the last entrustment:  that of proclaiming the Good News of Salvation and of baptizing, imploring that the life of the baptized always adheres to the teachings contained in that message.

It is really the apex for two reasons: the Lord is about to return to the Father and gives His disciples the responsibility in regard to new life.  Additionally, in handing over the responsibility to make Christians of all people, Jesus asks that it be done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  It is as though, in His infinite tenderness, Jesus reveals His highest Mystery, that of the Father, Omnipotent Creator, who so loves His Son, that this love, infinitely reciprocated by the Son, is the Person of the Holy Spirit.

Yes, now we know that the Highest exists and we also know, as St. Catherine of Siena says, ‘it is a bottomless ocean’.  If we live Jesus’ teachings summarized in the love of God and in making self a gift to our sisters and brothers, we are vivified and energized as well as consoled and filled with joy.  Because, by promising to remain with us all days and forever, Jesus helps us to live in the Presence of the THREE in ONE; THREE who love each other so much that they are ONE GOD, infinite LOVE and LOVING.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I will dwell in this sublime Mystery of the Triune God, in serene adoration and praise.

Lord, grant me the Holy Spirit so that this may not be simply a dogmatic truth but rather a LIGHT that burns, illumines, and continually renews life.

The Voice of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity

The whole Trinity dwells in the soul that loves the truth, that is, guards His Word.
