From the Word of the Day

“Mary went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and then reported what he had told her.”            (John 20: 18)

How should we live this Wordcross1

Today, we see the Resurrection from another perspective with John’s account.  Mary Magdalene had also gone to the tomb.  She runs to the disciples to tell them, “I have seen the Lord!”

The Word made flesh who was always felt, now makes Himself seen.  Immediately after the Resurrection, the first experience of Jesus is through the eyes; eyes that do not always see or recognize Him.  They are eyes that must be ready to distinguish the once familiar face of Jesus in a new form.  They are eyes that become emotional because they now see the One they feared to see no more.

The women see and believe.  Even John is in the group of His witnesses.  He runs to the tomb, kneels, sees, and believes.

In my pause for silent contemplation, I too want to be a witness to Jesus’ Resurrection and cry out to all I meet that Jesus lives!

Lord, help me to see and to believe.  Help me to keep my eyes open and fixed on You!

A virgin womb found full and a full tomb found empty constitute one and the same SIGN.
