First Tuesday of Lent

From the Word of the Day

“This is how you are to pray:  Our Father who art in heaven…”

 (Mark 6: 9)

How should we live this Wordimage047- creation

We ask the Father to make us His true children in the image of His beloved Son who makes us new and holy people.  He gives us the intelligence and compassion to understand the weaknesses of others and to forgive them.  He teaches us to share our material and spiritual goods in order to meet the needs of others.Lent is also a time for prayer and Jesus teaches us the true and perfect prayer.  We are to see God as our good Father, hand over our whole life to Him in a relationship of perennial acceptance of His will and of His love.  We do not pray like strangers, turned only to an omnipotent God, but to a Father who loves us and likes us and wishes only our good.  He is a God who will never abandon us in times of danger and temptation.

It is only in this way that our prayer will not merely be a repetition of words, but be realized and incarnated in our daily life.

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will pray as Jesus taught us, reflecting on the words and asking Jesus to help me live them each day.

O Lord, let my prayer be ever moved by a filial attitude that springs from my heart.

The Voice of Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Prayer is contact and relationship with God.  Let us listen to God in our hearts and then speak with Him from our hearts.  Prayer is listening and speaking from the heart.
