Third Wednesday in Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them upon their minds.”

(Hebrews 10: 16)

How should we live this Word preaching

The readings of this week continue to reveal God’s characteristics.  They tell us that God is Word, the Word enfleshed; the Word impressed in us, becomes the rule.  It becomes the value on which to discern good from evil and guides our decisions.  It is a Word that accompanies the hours, the minutes of each day and brings the promise to fulfillment.Today’s passage taken from the Letter to the Hebrews refers to the promise of the eternal covenant made by God to His people through the prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel.  The promise of God is not a tablet of stone, or sacrifices that draw the blood of animals, but a word written in the heart, impressed on the mind.  It is a dear word; one that is memorable!

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will ponder the Word in my heart as Mary did.

Lord, it is good to be able to say that Your Word is a promise.  It is a gift of salvation and not a sterile imposition.

The Voice of Alfred Vaucher, Christian

Grace makes us go from theory to action.  It impresses the law in our hearts.
