Second Thursday in Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“Hearing what he was doing, a large number of people came to him.”

(Mark 3: 8)

How should we live this Wordt_Jesus_the_Teacher024

In every Eucharist and when we read the Scriptures, we approach Jesus.  We are aware of His powerful and loving presence and we contemplate Him alive and working in our midst. Jesus draws people with His goodness and His power not only from Judea, but also from the pagan towns.  He creates unity around Himself.  The sick hurry to Him to be healed and the crowds come to hear new words of a message that proceeds from God in order to grow in their faith.  Jesus asks His disciples for a boat so that He could be heard by the people and seen by all.  How much practical sense and love Jesus shows for the crowds!

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will ask Jesus to come into the boat of my life so that I may evangelize through His presence in me.

Lord, help me to perceive You in my life and to welcome You so that I may be Your disciple and faithful proclaimer of Your message.

The Voice of Romano Guardini, Author of “Accept Yourself”

The Lord is always near since He is the root of our being.  However, we must experience our relationship with God between the poles of distance and closeness.  We are strengthened by His closeness and are put to the test by His distance.
