Sixth Wednesday of Easter

From the Word of the Day

The Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.”

 (John 16: 13)

How should we live this Word db_43-Pentecost[1]

The disciples will receive the Spirit who will make them understand the deep truths told by Jesus.  Even more profoundly, the Spirit will make them understand the person of Jesus who is the ‘Truth’.  Thus they will succeed to read their personal history and that of the world in the light of God’s messages and the signs of His presence in the world.

The Spirit always remains with His disciples.  The Spirit makes them able to see reality with Jesus’ eyes and to follow His example with love and courage.  He will put them on guard against the spirit of lies, revealing their nefarious and deceitful traps.

The saints’ docility to the Spirit is the concrete demonstration of His presence and His efficacy in their existence, provoking marvels and awe for what they accomplish.

Today as I pause for silent contemplation, I will invite the Holy Spirit more deeply into my heart and ask that I be docile to the inspirations I receive each day.

Come O spirit of truth, and illumine my mind and my heart so that I may approach God and my sisters and brothers with purity and love.

The voice of Edith Stein, St. Teresa Benedetta of the Cross

Those who seek truth, knowingly or unknowingly, seek God.
