From the Word of the Day

Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day.”

 (Luke 24: 46)

How should we live this Word Jesus and disciples 2

The disciples are together and they are speaking about Jesus.  Suddenly, He appears in Person in their midst and offers them the Easter gift of peace.  They think they are seeing a ghost, but Jesus reassures them that it is really He.  In order to prove it, He makes them see and touch His hands and feet and He asks for something to eat, things a ghost certainly does not do!

Every time we speak about Jesus, we make Him present in our life.  He opens our mind to the Scriptures and gives us the gift of His joy.  He removes our fear and invites us to be His witnesses.

Today, Jesus asks us to realize that He is not a ghost, but that He is a living and concrete person who accompanies us in life.  He asks us to bring the world His peace and victory over evil.

Today as I pause for silent contemplation, I will ask Jesus to help me speak of Him to others and to witness to Him wherever and whenever I have the opportunity.

Help me, Lord, to be your credible witness in my everyday life.  Let me speak of the reality of Your resurrection that gives the world serenity and peace.

The voice of Pope Francis, Vigil of Holy Saturday 2013)

Allow the risen Jesus to enter your life.  Receive Him as a friend, with trust.  He is life!  If you have been far from Him until now, take a small step.  He will take you into His open arms.  If you are indifferent, take the risk.  You will not be disappointed.  If it seems difficult to follow Him, do not be afraid.  Trust Him and be sure that He is close to you and with you.  He will give you the peace you seek and the strength to live as He desires.
