Thirtieth Wednesday in Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.  And those he predestined he also called; and those he called he also justified; and those he justified he also glorified.”  (Romans 8: 29-30)

How should we live this Word?light

God’s plans in our regard are great!  He has known us from always in the sense that He has always dreamed of creating us, surrounding us with the loving knowledge that is expressed by the verb ‘to know’ in the Bible.  So that we would be beautiful saints, totally fulfilled, He destined us to be like His Son in Whom He was well pleased.

Yes, the Father wants to see this splendor shining forth is us so that, assimilated into Jesus, as the perfect human being, we too would become His beloved.  Within this plan of God, there is a precise call.  In hope, we are already persons destined to be immersed in the total happiness of a life that will last forever, the glory of God and in Him, our glory as well.

Today in my time of silent contemplation, I will let this plan of love sink into my heart, a plan of light and of glory in which I collaborate with my free choices.

My God, when I am tempted to be anxious about how difficult the road now seems, help me to respond with St. Paul, “All things work for the good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose”.

The Voice of St. John Chrysostom, Church Father

Let nothing that happens disturb you.  Stop following the shadow of human help.  Incessantly ask the God you adore and He will intervene immediately or when it is really for your good.
