Twenty-fifth Tuesday in Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

“I rejoiced because they said to me, ‘We will go up to the house of the Lord’.”

(Psalm 122)

How should we live this Word? Revelation21_JohnNewJerusalem

The reconstruction of the temple of Jerusalem after the exile was anything but easy.  The people had all the necessary materials in abundance.  However what was missing was the interior spirit to motivate them to seriously commit themselves to build the stone walls.  The divisions among them in fact often interrupted their work and slowed reconciliation.

When they finally arrived at the consecration of the new temple during the Paschal Feast, the leaders and all the people were invited to go together up to the house of the Lord.  Only the unity of hearts and souls could truly make them rejoice at the gates of Jerusalem and of the temple.  Then the House of the Lord really became their house as well, the place which manifested peace, goodness, unity, and the will to be renewed continually in their reconciliation with the Lord and with every sister and brother.

Today in my time of silent contemplation, I will ponder my place in God’s temple, His Church, and my relationships with the people around me.  I will ask the Lord to make me a person of peace.

Lord, help me to bring peace to all I meet.

The Voice of Blessed Anton Martin Slomsek

God wants everyone to be saved.  This is why God patiently awaits our conversion and helps us to support our crosses and difficulties with docility.
