SOLEMNITY OF THE BLESSED TRINITY

From the Word of the Day

“Glory to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, who is, who was, who is to come.”

(Gospel Verse)

How should we live this Word?trinityicon[1]

This expression contains the synthesis of what we are able to say of the Trinitarian Mystery.  It is the greatest Mystery of our Faith and also the most arduous, yet it draws us into the divine depths of light.  In fact, it deals with a fact that transcends the limits of human reason.  Because it dose not belong to us but to God, it transcends us without discouraging us; it does not oppress.  On the contrary, it makes us aware of how much God revealed Himself to us through Jesus.  The Trinity has given us esteem, trust, and sanctifying grace.

Thus we say, “Glory”, because our joy is in exalting the greatness of this God who is One in essence and triune in Persons.  We attribute creation to the Father.  All things were made through the Son, who is the Word, the Wisdom of the Father.  The Holy Spirit is the Person-relationship, the infinite Love of the two.  It is a strong and powerful love, truly divine, that surrounds us as well if we want it and ask for it.  It embraces us, vivifies us, and makes us capable of being and living as God’s children on a journey that is truth, goodness, beauty in the drama of our life.

Today in my time of contemplation, I will bask in the love of the Trinity for me and I will thank my God with praise and joy.

My God, adored Trinity, grasp me entirely into Your journey of Light.

The Voice of St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, Carmelite

My God, Trinity whom I adore!
