From the Word of the Day

“Morning after morning he opens my ear that I may hear.”

             (Isaiah 50: 4)

How should we live this Word? holy Face 3

The faithful servant of the Lord is also a wise servant, ready to learn, listening to the Lord’s Word each morning, opening his ear.  The servant does not turn back and does not resist.

It is not easy to be this kind of a disciple.  This unconditional obedience may bring with it the suffering of being misunderstood, of solitude, opposition, persecution.  Only a firm trust in that the Lord helps us always and everywhere, allows the disciple to overcome insecurity, and the temptation to abandon the right way or even to betrayal.

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will ask the Lord to help me be a true and faithful servant, ready to do His will, secure in the knowledge that He will never abandon me.

Lord, answer me, because of Your great love.  Turn to me in Your great tenderness.

The Voice of Pope Francis on March 19, 2013

To guard means to vigil over our feelings, over our heart, because it is precisely there that good and bad intentions arise; those that build and those that destroy!  We must not be afraid of goodness, and not even of tenderness!
