Saturday After the Epiphany

From the Word of the Day

“Beloved, we have this confidence in him that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

(1 John 5: 14)

Faith is like an atmosphere of pure air, oxygenated by the mountain trees.  It opens the heart in simplicity.  It knows that it can fully count on the One trusted when this trust is placed in Jesus, the Son of God.  To tell us of His love, He took our nature upon Himself and thus we can truly live in deep peace.  To Him, who is fully human, we can hand over our life, even in its fragility and weakness.  In Him, who is truly God, we can nourish the certainty that He listens to us when we pray to Him.  There is only one criterion to respect in our prayer.  It means asking God for that which is in line with His will that is always a will for the good.  If we pray for the Lord to send a punitive misfortune against someone who has slandered me or complained about me, not only will God not listen to me, but even my own conscience, if it is upright and healthy, would accuse me.

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, renew my faith in the Lord.

Lord, effuse Your Spirit on me so that when I pray, I can be in the strong embrace of Your holy Will.

The Voice of M. De Unamuno, a Great Thinker

Without You Jesus, we are born to die.  With You, trusting You, we die only to be re-born.
