Second Thursday of Advent

From the Word of the Day

“That all might see and know, observe and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it.”

                                                              (Isaiah 41: 20)

How should we live this Word imagesCALVRCIZ

In Isaiah’s passage today we can see the tenderness of God who acts like a mother, holding our hand and assuring us that she is near and we do not have to be afraid.  It is true that Israel has suffered a lot in exile, but now the Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel will answer all the needs of His people, transforming their affliction into joy, the desert into a marshland.  All creation, including human beings, will see the manifestation of God.  Thus, all creation will speak of Him and praise Him in His goodness and power.

It is up to us to acknowledge this fact and to accept divine revelation in our story.  Then we will arrive at a better knowledge of God as well as the meaning of our earthly existence.  We are not blind visitors who do not know the way.  We are personally loved by God, chosen to participate in the second creation realized by the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Savior.  He guides us along the right path.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Today in my pause for silent contemplation, I will revel in the love God has for me and place all my trust in Him.

Lord Jesus, Come!  Give me eyes to see without prejudice, a mind that knows how to contemplate the marvels of Your creation and understand better the Holy One who created it.  Come, Lord Jesus!

Holy Advent!  May the Lord give us the graces needed to be continually alert, waiting for someone to arrive who will erupt into our homes and trust us to bring the good news!
