Twenty First Sunday of Ordinary Time

“This saying is hard.  Who can accept it?”    (John 6, 60-69)

Nice to follow You when the road seems smooth

And Your words are gentle…

‘Come to Me…I will give you rest…I prepare a place for you’.

But when nice turns to difficult,

To seemingly impossible and even repugnant;

‘Be meek and humble…be the servant of all…take the last place…

Eat My flesh…drink My blood’…012808_lead_today[1]

The shock is too great!

We shudder…We run!

But if we stay, like the Apostles,

With You, the holy One of God,

Do what You bid us do,

Life is filled with color;

All has meaning.

We gain everything in gaining You,

Your friendship, Your Presence!
