Tenth Saturday of Ordinary Time

From the Word of the Day

 Whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away;

 behold, new thing have come.

(2 Cor. 5, 17)

 How should we live this Word

PENTECOST Paul’s affirmation is very consoling for us who are often tempted to give up in the tiredness of the daily routine.  The apostle speaks of the importance of living in Christ, in His love that is precisely the secret dynamism that allows us to be new every morning as the air is renewed in the night, as the light of the sun.

To live in Christ, rooted in the continual newness of His being our SALVATION, is possible only because, ‘This is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ’.

 Paul continues, ‘He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised’.  This is why He poured out the Holy Spirit upon us!  He is the Spirit who renews all things, Who vivifies, Who fortifies and consoles.  Those who have encountered Christ are new and receive a ‘new name’ from Him.  They are God’s children!

 Today as I pause for silent contemplation, I will ask the Holy Spirit to grant that I may marvel at this continual newness of love that comes from Jesus’ death and resurrection.

 Lord, thank You for renewing everything each day and me as well!  Draw me so that I may never be separated from You!

 The voice of St. Clement, Church Father

 Why are there arguments, discussions, and dissension among you?  Do we not have only one God, only one Christ, only one Spirit of love diffused among us?  God draws us to Himself with love.  Because of the love He had for us, Jesus gave His blood for our blood, His flesh for our flesh, His soul for our soul.
